Eskimo Dancing

Eskimo dance tells stories through the use of gestures. Individuals move their upper body and arms in rhythm with the drums. There is much expression in these dances that can be graceful, energetic or even humorous.

Student Government

Four officers from JAAMS went to the fall conference in Juneau.  At the conference the students learned about leadership, how to run efficient meetings and various other things that had to do with parliamentary procedure.  Some of the time was devoted to a few outside tours. JAAMS  reps decided to tour the Governor’s Mansion in Juneau.  They were very impressed.  They also managed a quick trip to the Mendenhall Glacier which was amazing.  Now the students hope to involve and interest more of their classmates to be involved with student government.

Webpage Design

This year Antonia and Freda, both Juniors, traveled to Bethel with Miss Lynn and spent two days planning, designing and editing a new school webpage for Joann A. Memorial School. This was very intensive tiring work but both students rose to the challenge and we are returning to Atmautluak with a publishable site and the knowledge to keep it up to date.
